Anatomy and Developmental Biology

  • Anatomy and developmental biology- Praise be to Allah who enabled me to study Biomedical sciences at University College London (UCL) and later specialising in Anatomy and Developmental Biology. The subjects that I take include Molecular biology, Neuroanatomy and Human anatomy. Taking Human Anatomy and Embryology has given me a good understanding of the major systems and structures within the body. This year I will also be volunteering as dissecting room demonstrator, showing first year anatomy students basic structures concentrating on the thorax and the gut.

But enough about my degree, university is not only about studying, but also about having a “social life”. But as Muslims that saying means something completely different.  The meaning of this statement for me is surrounding myself with company and surroundings that will increase my eman and help me increase in the knowledge of my deen. I got all this and more subhanAllah, by becoming involved with the ISoc. Whether the events are talks or socials, the remembrance of Allah always comes first and in our secular days were unfortunately even Muslims segregate their deen from their daily life, the ISoc, Alhamdullilah, will enable you to incorporate uni life and Islam as it should be.
